Kathmandu Chitwan Pokhara Tour
The Kathmandu Chitwan Pokhara Tour takes travelers to the three main cities of Nepal. You will experience the bustling streets of Kathmandu, the serene lakes of Pokhara, and the tropical jungle of Chitwan. This tour is an easy and fun journey that anyone can enjoy regardless of their age.
All three cities are vastly different in terms of culture, tradition, and activities to do.
In Kathmandu, you will get to visit historical sites, and buildings that date back to hundreds of years ago. In Pokhara, you will experience scenes of beautiful hills and mountains, while in Chitwan, the iconic Chitwan National Park awaits you.Â
The country’s lowlands forest, also known as the Terai region, can be reached via a 5-hour journey, a 30-minute flight, or a quick drive. The average visitor to Chitwan stays for one or two nights, however, you are welcome to extend your stay if you like.Â
From Chitwan, we will leave for Pokhara. Pokhara is well known for being the beginning point for hiking in the Annapurna region. By itself, it is also a charming lake town that’s great for a leisure stay. Some travellers opt to extend their stay in Pokhara to chill out for a few more days before returning to Kathmandu.Â
In Pokhara, we will bring you to places of interest such as the World Peace Stupa, Mahendra Cave, Gupteswor Cave, David Falls, and the Mountaineering Museum.
We can also arrange for an optional hike up to Sarangkot before sunrise in the morning to witness Annapurna’s dawn.Â
Itinerary
Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport (KTM) you will be greeted by a representative from Sherpa Expedition Guide & Adventure. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) and picking up your luggage, look for our representative with a display board showing your name at the arrival gate. You will be transferred to your Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. After check-in, you will meet your guide for a quick briefing of the itinerary.Â
Depending on the time of your arrival, you may arrange for a city tour of Kathmandu.Â
On the 2nd day of the Kathmandu Chitwan Pokhara Tour, we will have our breakfast and get on the ride to Chitwan. Chitwan is a developing city both in terms of growth and infrastructure.
On the border of Chitwan National Park sits the little town of Sauraha. A 5 to 6-hour journey by jeep will bring you from Kathmandu to Sauraha in Chitwan. Chitwan’s best and most well-known attraction is the Chitwan National Park.
The national park is filled with a wide variety of engaging and fun activities. A walk in the jungle safari within the national park, canoeing down the Rapti river etc are the popular to-do activities.Â
Jungle Safari Tour
Taking a Jeep through the Jungle Safari is a popular way for visitors to observe the local wildlife and is the top to-do activity in Chitwan. Visitors can see several bird species, royal Bengal tigers, deer, one-horned rhinoceroses, and more in the safari. Alternatively, you can opt to do a jungle walk or take an elephant ride.
During your jungle safari tour, you will be guided by a wildlife expert guide who will share with you information and facts about the jungle and animals in the national park.
Elephant Breeding Center and Bathing the ElephantsÂ
The Elephant Breeding Center is the perfect place to learn all about elephant preservation in Nepal while you are in Chitwan. In addition to learning about the local center’s efforts to rescue these endangered species, you may witness newborn elephants interacting with their mothers here.
You will discover important facts on conservation and the initiatives taken to help the elephant population here. When in Chitwan, a visit to this location is widely regarded as an essential activity.
Bathing the elephants is considered one of the best activities to do in Chitwan if you have an interest in engaging with them and having a fun experience. You can simply ask our tour guide, and he will make arrangements for you to experience this fun activity.
Seeing the One-horned Rhinoceros
In the national park, you may go on a guided jungle safari to look for these amazing animals and understand more about their environment and behavior. Witnessing the majestic one-horned rhinoceros up close will undoubtedly be the highlight of your journey. If you are lucky enough, you might even be able to spot one of these amazing creatures in the wild.
Canoeing
Canoeing on a small wooden boat in the Rapti River is one of the top rated activities that you can indulge in when you are in Chitwan. During your canoeing trip, you will get to see different birds sitting atop the trees on the bank of the river or flying overhead. In addition to that you might also get to see Gharailas (a type of crocodiles with long snouts).
If you love being close to nature, you will definitely love canoeing down the Rapti River.
Visit Tharu Villages
Visiting authentic Tharu villages is a great way to learn about the traditions and practices of the local people. Since Tharus are the primary locals of the Terai region, you will get many insights about the region while visiting their villages.
If you are lucky enough, you might also get to take part in some of their traditional activities such as dancing and some of their cultural programs.
Photography
Numerous fascinating animals can be found in their native habitats, including rhinos, tigers, a bunch of different bird species, and elephants. Whether you are a hobbyist or a professional photographer, there are many chances to get beautiful pictures and save your unique moments with the creatures in the wild.
When it comes to wildlife photography in Chitwan, October through March will be the best time to visit. At this time of the year, these wildlife creatures are more visible and active. In Chitwan, there are several approaches to taking pictures of wildlife. You may go by foot, enjoy a boat trip, or go on a vehicle safari.
Today we will move on to Pokhara where we are in for a treat. Lush green hills, serene lakes, communities, and breathtaking background of snow-capped peaks surround Pokhara City. Pokhara is a place to unwind and enjoy yourself. The Annapurna range provides a stunning backdrop and the tranquility of three large lakes – Phewa, Rupa, and Begnas gives you a feel of serenity.Â
Pokhara is the center to a variety of activities and sports. Numerous trekking routes begin in Pokhara, including those that go to Poon Hill, Ghorepani, Kopra Ridge, and Annapurna Base Camp. Pokhara offers a wide range of outdoor sports, including rafting, skydiving, ziplining, boating, bungy jumping and more.
The journey from Chitwan to Pokhara is an enjoyable 5-hour drive winding through hills and stopping at local eateries for delicious foods.
World Peace Stupa
On Phewa Lake, small boats are available for rent. Renting a boat is an affordable option, if you are keen to go fishing. Alternatively, you may rent a boat to go to the foothill of the World Peace Pagoda and hike up.
Hiking the hill will take about 50–60 minutes, it is a manageable walk suitable for hikers of all ages. There are some eateries along the way if you are in need of a break or food to fuel the climb. Sights are stunning on the journey up.
Alternatively, since the left side of the lake is less crowded than the right, you are able to drive up and subsequently walk the whole distance, that is where we will hike up.
There are numerous cafes and eateries on the opposite side. You should stop for a nice coffee break if you go towards that direction.
The World Peace Pagoda is a sight to behold. It is open till 4:30 PM and makes a pleasant photo location. The spot offers excellent views of the Himalayas on clear, bright days.
Shop for Souvenirs
Pokhara’s Lakeside houses numerous arts and crafts shops where you can shop for various handmade crafts and souvenirs. The arts and crafts you see in Pokhara might resemble the ones you see in Kathmandu but it is generally a pleasant and different feel shopping in Pokhara.
International Mountain Museum
Every year, about 70,000 tourists from both local and foreign countries visit the International Mountain Museum (IMM). This museum keeps track of historical documents and displays global advancements in peak and mountaineering from decades ago up to current day. The Hall of Great Himalayas, the Hall of Fame, and the Hall of World Mountains are the three primary display halls in the museum.
As an effort to capture the centuries-old traditions and ideals of the Nepalese people, the museum features displays of iconic peaks, biographies of notable mountaineers, and the traditions and ways of life of the mountain people. Specifically, it depicts the Sherpas of Nepal. All the famous names we hear in the mountaineering industry would not have been possible without the help of the Sherpas.
Mahendra Cave
The Mahendra Cave is among Pokhara Valley’s most popular tourist destinations. 10-minutes’ drive from the major city sits the small village of Batulechaur, this is where the cave is situated. Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah, the late king of Nepal, is honored by naming the Mahendra Cave after him.
The cave is a natural tunnel where visitors can stroll through and observe various rock formations along the wall, including limestone that shines in the light. Mahendra Cave, one of the gloomier sites in Nepal, allows guests to explore the tunnel’s darker interior. Artwork of gods, goddesses, and tusks from elephants may be seen on the cave’s interior walls.
We leave Pokhara to return to Kathmandu today. Your ride from Pokhara to Kathmandu will take about 6 to 7 hours. You will travel along the Trishuli River for most part of the journey, enjoying the scenes of the hills and river along the way.
Depending on the traffic flow and weather conditions, the travel time will differ. Another aspect to consider is the road condition of the highway. The Prithivi highway that connects Kathmandu and Pokhara has many rough patches and some parts of the highway are always under construction. This can cause your travel time to increase.
After reaching Kathmandu, you will be dropped off at your accommodation.Â
This is the last day of your Kathmandu Chitwan Pokhara Tour. Our representative will drop you off at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight time.
